Description

It is a shrub belonging to the gooseberry family. It comes from the eastern part of North America. A shrub up to 3 m high. The main shoots are stiff, flexible (they bend under the weight of the fruit) and strongly branched. Medium-sized light green, with clearly marked flaps, cup-shaped, petals small, yellow. Berries, medium or large, white with yellow stripes from top to bottom, gathered in clusters (in one cluster there can be from 24 to over 43 berries), multi-seeded. Sweet and sour in taste. Perennial plant, it blooms in April. The fruits ripen in July and early August. It blooms best in sandy loam soils, fertile with an acidic pH.
